Externships & Internships

Please visit the following site for more information: www.aaep.org

Externship

The goals of the externship are to provide a high level of exposure to broaden the interests and skills of veterinary students. The extern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, friendly environment. This program should provide the extern with enough clinical exposure to allow a solid foundation to pursue further studies in equine sports medicine.  These positions are unpaid and are available year round, 1-6 weeks in duration.  If you are interested in doing an externship at Chicago Equine Medical Center, please email a letter of introduction and current resume to info@chicagoequine.com.

Internship

An internship is a mentored first year, paid position, where a new vet school graduate (DVM) serves a year with an experienced practice and learns from the practitioners rather than learning from the school of hard knocks.  If you are interested in applying for an internship at Chicago Equine Medical Center, please email a letter of introduction and curriculum vitae to info@chicagoequine.com.  Interns must be a licensed DVM and be able to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin.  Foreign graduates if ECFVG approved.  Although not necessary for consideration, visits to the hospital are highly encouraged.
