Externship Information

Maximum Number of Externs: 4

Goals of The Externship: To enable the extern to leave our practice with an increased knowledge of quality veterinary medicine. To enhance their confidence level in diagnosing and treating horses.

Externship Responsibilities: The extern will be responsible for assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of in-house and ambulatory patients. The extern will rotate in our 11:00 PM checks for hospitalized patients.

Other Information: The duration of an externship may range from 1 to 6 weeks. A 2 week visit is encouraged in order to be considered for an internship position. Priority will be given to internal candidates.

Prerequisites: Must currently be a student at a College of Veterinary Medicine

Availability: Year-round

Insurance Requirements: Student must provide own insurance and AVMA PLIT insurance with proof of payment of $10 fee
